Applications sought for membership of Panel of Advisors to the OIA

The OIA’s Higher Education Advisory Panel provides advice on general matters of practice within the Higher Education sector arising during the OIA’s review of a complaint. This helps us to keep in touch with the sector and understand common practice within higher education providers.  More information can be found on our website here.

We are now looking to appoint up to two new Panel members to serve from March 2019 for three years in order to replace retiring members and maintain balance on the Panel.

The new members will either be able to offer current experience of working as a students’ union advisor, or at a senior administrative level at a higher education provider or managing higher education at a further education provider. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience of working with PhD and international students; at providers with a medical school; at providers in Wales; or who are able to provide an academic perspective.

In addition to responding to referrals by email and (occasionally) telephone, panel members are asked to attend two meetings in Reading each year. They receive a small honorarium and all travel expenses are reimbursed. Terms of Reference for membership of the panel are here.

Please note that current OIA Points of Contact cannot serve as members of the Panel.

Expressions of interest with a supporting CV and short covering letter should be sent to Lisa Ivey (lisa.ivey@oiahe.org.uk) by Friday 25 January. Selection will be by telephone interview in the weeks commencing 4 and 11 February.  Successful applicants will be appointed to serve on the Panel for three years from March 2019 and will be invited to attend the next Panel meeting in March 2019, in Reading.
