Upcoming Seminars and Workshops

2014 Autumn Programme

These events are very popular and we recommend that you book as quickly as possible. We often have to limit places to one per university or students' union.

Autumn workshop programme

OIA workshops: “Introduction to the OIA”

Dates: Thursday 23 October 2014 and Wednesday 5 November 2014

Times: tbc but approximately 10am to 3.30pm

Venue: Reading (precise venue tbc)

Cost: These events are free of charge

The OIA will be running two “Introduction to the OIA” workshops in the autumn.  These events are aimed at university and students’ union advice centre staff who have limited experience of the OIA . Delegates will leave with a better understanding of the OIA’s remit, how we approach cases and also what they can do at each stage to help us ensure that cases progress as efficiently as possible.

At these workshops delegates will:

  • hear an update on recent developments at the OIA;
  • learn about the OIA’s remit and its processes,  the types of cases we can look at and those we cannot and the “lifecycle” of a case, from the time it is received to the compliance stage;
  • look at sample cases in groups before hearing how the OIA would approach them;
  • network with colleagues from other universities and students’ unions;
  • hear updates on the work of the OIA, NUS, QAA, AHUA and ARC to develop the Good Practice Framework.

A booking form will be sent to our point of contact at each university and students’ union in the coming weeks.  We will ask them to forward this form to colleagues as appropriate.  Kindly note that it is highly likely we will only be able to accept one booking per university and students’ union in the first instance.
