Planning for tomorrow, safeguarding today: OIA updates, financial challenges and student conduct
This free online workshop is aimed at Students' Unions, Students' Associations and other representative bodies who advise or guide students through their provider’s internal procedures. Staff and representatives who advocate on behalf of students through the OIA process should also find this workshop useful.
On the agenda…
- OIA updates including on recent case summaries, the Good Practice Framework: harassment and sexual misconduct, briefing notes and engagement insights
- Adviser discussion groups where we will explore complaints in the context of student activities, financial sustainability and topics raised in advance by delegates.
- Case study breakout discussions covering issues we see in complaints about harassment and sexual misconduct
- Guest speakers – Ruby Hall, Resolutions and Complaints Advisor at Nottingham Students’ Union, will take us through her role in investigating complaints in the context of student activities.
The workshop will also be a networking opportunity for anyone wishing to share or learn about good practice in supporting students through complaints and appeals.

- The workshop will be held online using MS Teams
- Attendees will need a camera and headset with a microphone to gain the most from attending.
