OIA statement in response to the report of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Antisemitism in Higher Education

We welcome the important work of the Taskforce in highlighting the experiences of Jewish people in higher education.

The report and the accompanying guidance will be a valuable tool for the higher education sector in developing more inclusive practices and addressing antisemitism.

We see a small number of complaints involving antisemitism each year and we fed in our learning from these and our wider experience of student complaints involving discrimination and harassment to the Taskforce.

We recognise that it can be very difficult for students to raise concerns about these issues. It is vital that students feel confident to report their concerns, that they are signposted to how to do that, and that they are well supported through any processes.

We will consider the report’s recommendations carefully and we will continue to work with other organisations to promote the ongoing improvement of complaints processes and practice.
