Coronavirus - CS072103

A group of students on a creative arts-based taught Masters course complained to the provider, before the pandemic, about timetabling issues, particularly in relation to guest lecturers and events, lack of access to facilities and equipment, and pressures created by a larger number of students being admitted on the course.

Coronavirus - CS072104

A cohort of students was on a Business-related taught postgraduate course, paying tuition fees of over £24,000. In March 2020 their provider suspended all face-to-face teaching and activities as a result of the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

An undergraduate student was expecting to sit an end of year exam for one module but the provider cancelled the exam because of the nationwide lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Coronavirus - CS072109

A student and some of their housemates organised a party held in the accommodation they were renting from their higher education provider. The party was attended by several students from other residences.

An international student was on a two-year course that started in January 2020, living in accommodation owned by their provider. In March 2020 the student returned to their home country just before the nationwide lockdown was announced in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A student was renting a house with three other students. The accommodation agreement was with their higher education provider and the provider was renting the house (and others in the area) from private landlords.

An undergraduate student was expecting to sit an end of year exam for one module but the provider cancelled the exam because of the nationwide lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

A student was on a one year taught postgraduate course. As a result of the nationwide lockdown announced in March 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, the provider restricted access to on-campus facilities such as the library, and teaching was moved online.

A student was living in accommodation owned by their provider. Their accommodation agreement was for the full academic year, from September to mid-June.

Coronavirus - CS032103

A student was on a one-year postgraduate course. The provider moved its students to remote learning as a result of the nationwide lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020.

We publish summaries of some of the complaints that we review. We always leave out of the summary any information that might identify the student who made the complaint. In some cases we decide that it is in the public interest to publish a summary of a complaint that includes the name of the provider.
